EB+ Gen3 Haldex Trailer Ecu
The EB+ Gen3 system offers electro-pneumatic trailer brake control for various trailer types, including full, semi, and centre-axle trailers. It incorporates electronic load sensing and anti-lock features, ensuring compatibility with both electronically and pneumatically signalled towing vehicles.
In addition to standard brake control, the Gen3 Haldex Trailer Ecu also incorporates a roll stability system. This system utilizes a lateral accelerometer, along with other variables, to detect if the vehicle is approaching its roll threshold. It employs low-level brake test pulses and automatically engages the brakes to bring the vehicle below the roll threshold. The accelerometer can either be internal or external to the ECU.
Furthermore, the controller includes auxiliary channels that can perform additional functions, such as resetting the ride height and providing a power/diagnostic link for other systems.
The core system package consists of an electronic control unit (ECU)/modulator assembly, featuring a brake apply solenoid, twin solenoid-operated relay valve(s), and pressure sensors to monitor pneumatic control line, brake delivery, reservoir, and air suspension pressure.
Externally, the system comprises two to four wheel speed sensors and, optionally, a pressure sensor for pneumatic control transmission. If used, the pressure sensor should be positioned before an emergency valve (REV or EV), if equipped.
Trailers equipped with this system can only be towed by vehicles with an ISO 7638 connector (7 or 5-pin). With a 7-pin connector, the system receives brake demand data through the CAN data line in compliance with ISO 11992. Using a 5-pin connector, the system determines brake demand by monitoring the pneumatic control transmission.
Additionally, you have the option to install an ISO 1185 (24N) or ISO 12098 (15-pole) stoplight power backup connection. This provides anti-lock braking control and optional dynamic load sensing when the ISO 7638 connection is not operational. Note that this is not intended for regular use.
Brake apportionment under varying vehicle load conditions is controlled via software. The load sensing parameters derived from brake calculations are programmed into the ECU through the system diagnostic link.
